Permanent Makeup Aftercare

The way you care for the treated area in the first few days determines how beautifully the color sets and how quickly the scabs peel. Please read the section for your treatment and follow each step. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to message NP Brows.
General Principles
-
Clean hands. Only touch the treated area with freshly washed hands.
-
Moisturize consistently. The better the area is kept moisturized, the faster the scabs peel and the more even the color.
-
Do not scratch, pick or peel the scabs. This is the leading cause of color loss and scarring.
-
Avoid heat and sweat. Saunas, the gym, tanning and swimming pools all slow healing and make the color fade faster.
-
Be patient. The color looks darker in the first 1-2 days, then softens as the scabs peel. It only settles once the skin has fully healed.
-
The client is fully responsible if the care instructions above are not followed.
1. Brow Aftercare
What is normal to see
-
After the treatment, the skin around the brows may look slightly red (depending on your skin), which is a normal reaction to the numbing cream.
-
The next day, the brows may look darker and thicker as the scabs form. Once the scabs have fully peeled, they will look softer and more natural.
-
Color retention depends on your skin: normal skin holds color better than oily skin. If you frequently peel, exfoliate, cleanse heavily, or get a lot of sun, the color fades faster.
First 6 hours
-
Keep water away from the brows.
After 6 hours
-
You can wash your face and shower as normal, but do not use makeup remover or cleanser scrubbed directly on the brows.
-
If product accidentally gets on them, rinse with clean water and gently pat dry with a clean towel.
Moisturizing (the most important step)
-
Apply non-petroleum Vaseline and a facial mist 7 to 10 times a day.
-
In the evening, fold a tissue to the size of your brows, dampen it with water and place it on for 30 minutes. Do this every day until the scabs have fully peeled.
-
The more moisturized the brows, the faster the scabs peel.
Healing
-
With proper care, the brows peel in about 4 to 5 days and fully heal in 4 to 7 days.
-
While the scabs are peeling, never scratch, pick or remove them, as this can cause scarring and/or color loss.
For the first 2 weeks, avoid:
-
Swimming in the sea, tanning, sunbathing, saunas, skin treatments, and any activity that makes you sweat a lot.
Touch-up
-
Your touch-up is scheduled 4 weeks after your first session. After peeling, the color will be about 10 to 15% lighter than when freshly done. Come back for a touch-up if you would like to adjust it. If you are happy with the result, a return visit is not necessary.
2. Lip Aftercare
Avoid after the treatment
-
Water spinach (rau muống) and sticky rice (nếp) for 1 week.
-
Colored foods (curry, soy sauce…) and dark drinks (tea, coffee…) touching the lips for a few days until healed. If they do get on your lips, rinse with water and pat dry with a clean towel.
-
Lipstick for 2 months after the procedure.
Moisturizing
-
From 2 hours after the procedure, apply non-petroleum lip balm every 30 minutes to keep the lips moist, as they get very dry while the scabs peel. Do not wait the full 2 hours between applications; keep it up regularly.
-
Proper moisturizing helps the lips peel faster and hold color better.
Hygiene & eating
-
After eating, clean your lips thoroughly with water. Do not use soap or any cosmetic product directly on the lips.
-
Apart from water spinach and sticky rice, you do not need to avoid any other foods. You can eat and go about your life as normal.
-
Always keep the lips clean and wear a mask as little as possible. Wearing a mask can worsen cold-sore blistering and make the lips heal more slowly.
Healing
-
With proper care, the lips peel within 2 to 3 days.
-
Once the lips have peeled, apply collagen twice a day (morning and night). 10 minutes after applying, follow with lip balm.
-
The lip color only truly settles after 2 months. The color you see right after the scabs peel is NOT the final color. For 2 months after the procedure, the color keeps changing, even within the same day, which is completely normal. Keep moisturizing your lips and drink plenty of water so the color develops better.
3. Eyeliner Aftercare
-
Do not use makeup remover or cosmetics on the eyelid area.
-
Do not wear contact lenses for 2 to 3 days.
-
Do not use mascara for 2 weeks.
-
Do not get lash extensions for 1 month.
-
Do not get a lash lift for 1 week.
-
Keep the eyelid area clean and dry, and avoid rubbing your eyes for the first few days.
4. Laser Tattoo Removal Aftercare
-
Keep the treated area clean and dry for the first 3 hours.
-
Avoid heavy sweating, swimming and tanning.
-
We recommend SPF 30 sunscreen to protect the treated area.
-
Do not pick scabs (if any).
-
Do not apply products that may irritate the skin while it is healing.
-
Blistering and scabbing are rare side effects. Proper care plays an important role in how effective the laser removal is.
